Regis Can't Find Rhythm After Taking First Set From Western Oregon; Fall in Four to the Wolves

Denver, Colo.: The last two coaches in Regis history pitted their teams against each other today in the final game of the 2009 Colorado Premier Challenge.  Regis and 23-year head man Frank Lavrisha fell to Western Oregon 3-1 who is coached by former Regis coach Brad Saindon (1984-85).  Game scores were 25-15, 19-25, 16-25, 20-25.

Regis (2-6) again made a good showing in the first set hitting .286 with only five errors while limiting Western Oregon (2-6) to a .031 attack percentage.

The Rangers cooled off after that and only hit above .100 once, while Western Oregon hit over .300 twice.

The height of Western Oregon troubled Regis and the Wolves put down 11 blocks on the night.

Offensively the Rangers were again led by junior Jessica Howe's 15 kills on 30 swings for a .486 hitting percentage.  Senior Maggie Workman had a solid night with nine kills, while junior Kerry Grady and sophomore Lyz Kann combined for 15 kills.

Junior Devin Eckhardt had a game-high 44 assists to go along with seven digs.  Defensively sophomore Cassidee Young turned in perhaps her finest game as a Ranger.  She dug 24 balls to set a career high.

Regis will travel to Chadron State to begin RMAC action on September 11 at 7:00 p.m.
