Regis Volleyball Falls to #8 Southwest Minnesota State 3-1 at Colorado Premier Challenge
Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger volleyball team are finding out just how premier the Colorado Premier Challenge is. For the second time in less than a week Regis was pitted against Southwest Minnesota State and unfortunately the outcome was the same. The Rangers fell to the Mustangs by scores of 25-22, 16-25, 18-25, 16-25.
Regis came out with a vengenance in the first set hitting at a .211 clip and scoring 18 points. Junior All-American Jessica Howe led the way with five kills in the first set en route to a team-high 13.
However, the Rangers were unable to hold that momentum and their passing and hitting couldn't find a rhythm. Regis hit .000, .051 and .118 over the next three sets and just .090 for the match while the #8 ranked Mustangs hit .267 for the match.
After Howe's 13 kills, fellow junior Erin Anderson had her Ranger high with 11. Junior Kerry Grady and sophomore Lyz Kann chipped in with six apiece. Cassidee Young had a solid night on defense with a game-high 19 digs.
Regis falls to 2-4 on the season while SWMS improves to 5-1. Regis returns to action Saturday morning as they take on Lewis University (Ill.) at Metro State College.
