Rangers End Season with 3-0 Loss to Metro State in the First Round of the RMAC Volleyball Tournament

Kearney, Neb.: The defending RMAC Tournament Champions couldn't defend their title as the Regis volleyball team fell to #23 Metro State in straight sets in the first round of the RMAC Tournament.

Regis couldn't find their groove against Metro State (21-8) and hit over 100 points less (.298-.186) than the Roadrunners.  Game scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.  The Rangers hit .143 and .083 respectively in the first two sets and when the Rangers offense did find a groove, hitting .310 in the third set, Metro State countered by hitting .314.

Regis got 11 kills from All-American Jessica Howe in 28 attempts.  Junior Kerry Grady and freshman Jordan Hughes both chipped in with eight kills apiece.  Grady hit .467 (8-1-17) leading the way, while sophomore Lyz Kann had six kills hitting .312 (6-1-16).

Regis had more digs, 56-55, than the Roadrunners and were led by sophomore Cassidee Young's match-high 19. Hughes was next with 10 digs and senior Maggie Workman had seven in her final collegiate game of her career.

Junior Devin Eckhardt had 28 assists and five digs from her setter position.

All-RMAC First Team honoree Bri Morley led the Roadrunners, who will now play the winner of the Mesa State/Adams State match on Friday, with 17 kills.  RMAC Defensive Player of the Year Amy Watanabe also had 19 digs to match Young.
