Regis Rangers Drop to 12-12 with a 3-2 Setback at the Hands of Colorado Mines

Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger women's volleyball team couldn't recover from a 2-0 hole in a 3-2 loss to Colorado Mines in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at the Regis Fieldhouse.

Mines (20-6, 12-4 RMAC) came out of the gate on fire hitting .323 and .333 in the first two sets in winning 25-19 and 25-16.  Regis (12-12, 10-6 RMAC) had just 19 kills in the first two sets combined but after the intermission Regis came out with 18 kills in the third set and 19 in the fourth.

Regis hit .517 in set three and .366 in set four to take the sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-23.  Regis had just one error in the fifth and deciding set but had just five kills while Colorado Mines had 13 kills of their 15 points in the 15-10 win.

Regis hurt themselves with a season-high 16 service aces.  Both teams hit over .200 with Mines hitting at a .268 clip and the Rangers at .244.

Junior outside hitter Jessica Howe had another 20-plus kill night, her fourth of the season, with 23 kills in 55 attacks.  Freshman Jordan Hughes had a career night with 10 kills and nearly notched a double-double with nine digs.

Junior Kerry Grady and Lyz Kann each registered eight kills with Kann leading the way with six total blocks.  Junior setter Devin Eckhardt tied her season-high with four kills while dishing out 50 assists.

Sophomore Cassidee Young collected a team-high 14 digs, her 15th double figure dig match of the season.

Both teams blocked well as the teams combined for 21 blocks, 11 by Mines and 10 by Regis.

Regis will play their final home match of the season tomorrow afternoon against Chadron State at 4:00 p.m.
