Sophomore Middle Blocker Lyz Kann Named RMAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Sophomore middle blocker Lyz Kann was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her superb performances in two Regis wins over Chadron State and Colorado Mines last week.
Kann, from Scottsdale, Ariz., was instrumental in the Rangers 2-0 weekend especially on the defensive side where she had nine total blocks. She was also very good on the offensive end; she hit .310 on 42 attacks with 19 kills, which was second on the team. She tallied a career-high 12 kills against Colorado Mines on Saturday. Kann was also second on the team with 24 points for a 4.00 point per set average.
On the season, Kann leads the Rangers with a .246 hitting percentage and is second with 71 kills (2.03 per set). She is also second on the team in solo blocks (3), total blocks (26) and blocks per set (0.74). She leads the team with 23 block assists.
Regis is in action this weekend as they host UC-Colorado Springs for their first home RMAC match. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday night.
