Ranger Volleyball Cruises by New Mexico Highlands in Straight Sets During "Dig for the Cure"

Denver, Colo.: The Ranger volleyball team used a powerful offense and an even more powerful defense to cruise past New Mexico Highlands in straight sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-19) in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

On a night when the Regis volleyball team was supporting "Dig for the Cure", which helps spread awareness about breast cancer, Regis dug, hit and blocked their way to their eighth victory of the season (8-7, 6-1 RMAC).

The Rangers continue to stay in second place in the RMAC East Division following their sixth victory in seven attempts in RMAC action.

The Rangers forced New Mexico Highlands (1-16, 0-8 RMAC) into a -.022 attack percentage.  The Cowgirls had 21 attack errors and just 19 kills on the evening.

Freshman Caitlin McDonnell nearly equaled the output of New Mexico Highlands as she tallied a career-high 13 kills and just two errors.  She had a .500 attack percentage in just 20 attempts in her first career start.

Regis hit .326 for the match, which is their second highest percentage of the season, trailing only their .378 percentage against Colorado Christian.

Junior All-American Jessica Howe had a quiet nine kills in just 13 attacks.  Fellow junior Sarah Keiter was next with seven kills.  Freshman Jordan Hughes picked up 10 digs, while fellow freshman Katie Hudencial was right behind with nine.

Hudencial and Hughes also registered three service aces each helping Regis to seven for the match.  Junior Devin Eckhardt continued her solid play with 35 assists, five digs, two block assists and a perfect 1.000 attack percentage (3-0-3).

Regis will return to action Saturday night as they host Western New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.  This match is also a "Dig for the Cure" event and everyone is encouraged to wear pink to show your support.
