Rangers Soar Past Chadron State in RMAC Opener
Chadron, Neb.: Regis used a balanced offensive attack to soar past the Chadron State Eagles in the Rangers Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener 3-0. The Rangers hit .194 in the match while limiting the Eagles to a .044 attack percentage.
Regis (3-6, 0-1 RMAC) won the first set 25-22 behind three kills each from junior Erin Anderson and sophomore Lyz Kann. With the Ranges trailing 21-18, the Rangers were able to use a 7-1 run to come from behind and win the set.
Chadron St. (0-7, 0-1 RMAC) found themselves down 7-0 before they knew it. The Rangers were able to force the Eagles into five attack errors within the first seven points. The Eagles were never able to recover and fell in the second set 25-13. Regis hit .348 to a -.026 percentage for Chadron State.
The third set was a tightly contested set and the final score of 25-19 provided the largetst margin in the set. Regis got four kills from junior Kerry Grady, with two of them coming in the last six points.
Grady led Regis with eight kills while two others, Kann and junior Jessica Howe had seven and Anderson and senior Maggie Workman each collected six kills.
Grady hit a robust .538 (8-1-13) to lead everyone in the match. Junior Devin Eckhardt had a game-high 25 assists, while sophomore Cassidee Young collected nine more digs to add to her team-leading total.
Regis will travel back to Colorado and head over to Golden to take on Colorado Mines at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
