Rangers Fight Off Pesky Thunderwolves for 3-2 Victory in RMAC Volleyball

Pueblo, Colo.: The Regis Ranger volleyball team started out slow again falling in the first set, 25-23 to CSU-Pueblo, but was able to come back to win their 10th in the last 12 matches with a 3-2 RMAC victory. 

Regis (12-8, 10-2 RMAC) stayed within striking distance of the RMAC regular season title but it didn't look early as the Rangers fell in the first set after hitting just .021.  Regis took set two, 25-20, hitting .290 and was able to sideout 80 percent of the time.

Regis again didn't hit well in set three, just .100, fell 25-22 to CSU-Pueblo (6-15, 3-9 RMAC).  The Ranges again responded with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set and followed that up with a thrilling 15-13 victory in the deciding set.

Regis was aided by a season-high 11 service aces including a career-high four by freshman Caitlin McDonnell.

Junior All-American Jessica Howe again had a 20 kill match with exactly 20 kills.  Junior Erin Anderson was next with 11 kills in just 20 attempts, while junior Kerry Grady had a quiet eight kills.

Sophomore libero Cassidee Young registered a career-high 30 digs and has had 55 digs in the last two matches.  Junior Sarah Keiter tallied another double-figure dig match with 12, while senior Maggie Workman garnered nine.

Regis will travel south for the third match in three nights with a matchup with Adams State in Alamosa on Saturday night.
