Ranger Volleyball Evens Record at 6-6 with a Straight Set Victory over Colorado Christian

Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger volleyball team had their perfect RMAC record, 3-0, on the line tonight against Colorado Christian and were able to defend their home court in a straight set victory.  Regis used great offense, hitting .378 in the match, compared to just .038 for the Cougars.

Regis (6-6, 4-0 RMAC) won the first set by a score of 25-12, while hitting an unbelievable .542 at the net with no errors.  The second set was taken by a score of 25-11 in which Regis forced Colorado Christian (2-0, 0-4 RMAC) into nine errors and just two kills.

The third set was won by a score of 25-19.  Regis had a comfortable 24-14 lead but Colorado Christian scored five in a row to make it interesting.  Regis head coach Frank Lavrisha, now with 492 wins, called a timeout and after calming them down freshman Caitlin McDonnell finished off the match with a kill.

Regis had an amazingly low six attack errors through the match compared to 19 for Colorado Christian. 

Nine different Rangers registered kills, led by junior Jessica Howe's nine.  Junior Kerry Grady was next with seven, while McDonnell put down five balls.

Regis was able to outscore CCU by an astounding 51.0 to 28.0.  Defensively Regis had six blocks led by junior Erin Anderson's three block assists and one solo block.  Sophomor Cassidee Young had a match-high nine digs.  Junior Devin Eckhardt and freshman Katie Hudencial each collected six digs with Eckhardt registering a match-high 27 assists.

Regis will return to action at home as they host nationally-ranked and crosstown rival Metro State on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
