Rangers Struggle in 3-1 Loss to 11th-Ranked Nebraska-Kearney
Kearney, Neb.: The Ranger volleyball team traveled east through some rough weather and found the Lopers tough to handle as well. 11th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney dispensed of Regis in four games, 7-25, 26-24, 12-25, 23-25 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action this evening.
Regis (12-11, 8-7 RMAC) had twice as many (34-17) errors in the match, hitting only .026 to .238 for the Lopers. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Howe had half of the Rangers kills with 19 in 58 attempts. Senior outside hitter Cassie Skipitis came off the bench to put home six kills, while Kerry Grady had five from her right side position. Sophomore setter Devin Eckhardt notched her seventh double-double of the season with 34 assists and 13 digs.
Freshman libero Cassidee Young had 10 digs, while senior defensive specialists Kristin Thompson and Hannah Tautolo each had nine. Middle hitters senior Liz Franz and sophomore Liz Kann each had match highs of four blocks.
Nebraska-Kearney (25-2, 13-1 RMAC) had four reach double figures in kills led by Erica Burson and Jeri Walkowiak's 12 each.
Regis will finish the regular season next weekend with two home games. On Friday the Rangers will host Colorado Christian on Halloween night and then UC-Colorado Springs on Saturday night. Both games have a 7 PM first serve.
