Regis Picked to Finish Fifth in the RMAC East Division; Senior Liz Franz Selected to Preseason All-RMAC Team

Colorado Springs, Colo.: The Regis University volleyball team was predicted to finish fifth in the competitive RMAC East Division.  Regis, who was 11-17 last season and 9-10 in conference play was selected to finish ninth overall in the RMAC as voted on by the 14 head coaches.  Last season the Rangers finished eighth in the regular season losing in the first round of the RMAC postseason tournament to eventual tournament champion Nebraska-Kearney.

Nebraska-Kearney is predicted to win the conference in which they have either tied or won the league title each of the last four years.  Metro State is predicted to finish second overall while Fort Lewis and Western New Mexico are picked to win the West Division and to finish third overall.  UC-Colorado Springs is picked to finish third in the East with Chadron State finishing fourth.  Nebraska-Kearney got 12 first place votes with Chadron State garnering the other two.

Senior middle hitter Liz Franz was selected to the Preseason All-RMAC Team.  The First Team All RMAC selection in 2007 led the Rangers with a .311 hitting percentage while finishing second on the team with 330 kills and a 0.81 kills per game average.  Junior middle hitter Nikki Scott of Nebraska-Kearney was tabbed as the Preseason Player of the Year after winning the player of the year award last season.

"The RMAC is one of the toughest conferences in the country and I know that our team is looking forward to the challenge," says Head Coach Frank Lavrish now in his 22nd season at the helm.  "Our tough non-conference schedule will help us get ready for conference play."
