Senior Liz Franz and Sophomore Devin Eckhardt Earn RMAC Player of the Week Awards
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Senior middle hitter Liz Franz and sophomore setter Devin Eckhardt helped lead the Rangers to a perfect 4-0 record last weekend at the Long Island C.W. Post Tournament. They have been recognized for their work with Franz earning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week and Eckhardt tabbed as the RMAC Setter of the Week.
Franz, who was a First Team All-Conference selection last season, began where she left off. She had 54 kills (3.86 per set) in the four wins with a team-best .436 hitting percentage. Against Bentley she tallied 24 kills on 41 swings in the five-set win. She also leads the team with a 16 total blocks for a 1.14 blocks per set average.
Eckhardt, a honorable mention All-RMAC honoree last season as a freshman, tallied 169 assists for a 10.56 assist per set average. She also contributed 17 kills on the weekend including tying her career high with eight against Franklin Pierce. She also contributed defensively last weekend with 10 total blocks, third on the team and 20 digs.
The Rangers will participate in the Regis/Metro State Premier Challenge Tournament slated for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6. The Rangers will play against Central Missouri and then turnaround and play defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul both on Friday.
