Rangers Use Strong Defense to Dispense of Chadron State in Straight Sets
Denver, Colo.:The Regis Rangers volleyball team used a strong defense to dispense of Chadron State in three sets. The Rangers held the Eagles to a -.010 hitting percentage to take the match by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-10.
The Rangers got a game-high 12 kills from sophomore right side hitter Kerry Grady, while outside hitters sophomore Maggie Workman and senior Cassie Skipitis each tallied eight. The Rangers hit .287 for the match including 46 kills. The Eagles had only 20 balls that scored on the Rangers side. Sophomore setter Devin Eckhardt, leading the RMAC in assists, had 41 assists to help bolster her lead. The 51 digs the Rangers registered were dispersed amongst 10 different Regis players, led by nine from freshman libero Cassidee Young. Freshman middle hitter Liz Kann set a career high with six blocks to help the Rangers to nine total blocks.
This was the first RMAC contest for each team; the Rangers improve to 5-4 overall and Chadron State falls to 2-8. Regis will host Colorado Mines tomorrow night at 7 PM at the Regis Fieldhouse.
