Liz Franz Named First Team RMAC All Academic; Five Other Rangers Honored

Colorado Springs, Colo.:Senior middle hitter Liz Franz was named to the RMAC All Academic First Team.  Sophomores Jessica Howe and Devin Eckhardt were tabbed as second team members with fellow sophomores Kerry Grady and Melissa Piazza and senior Nia Ingram earning honor roll accolades.

Franz, from Littleton, Colo., sports a 3.32 GPA in Business and Marketing.  She was named academic first team last season as well as All-RMAC First Team for her efforts on the court.  Franz is third on the team in kills (171) and kills per set (2.51) and her .269 career attack percentage ranks her ninth all-time at Regis.

Outside hitter Jessica Howe who has a 3.59 GPA in Biology is the team leader in kills (275), kills per set (3.27), blocks (61) and points (318.0).  Howe has had four matches with 20-plus kills and all those in the last eight matches.

Eckhardt, the Ranger's setter from LaSalle, Colo., is undecided on a major posting a 3.63 grade point average.  She ranks second in the RMAC averaging 10.51 assists and is already in eighth place in career assists at Regis with 2,044.

Right side hitter Grady and outside hitter Piazza both have a 3.67 GPA with Grady majoring in Communications and Piazza in Business.  Grady is second on the squad with 213 kills and a 2.54 kill per set average.  Piazza averages 1.13 kills per set as a key sub for the Rangers.  Ingram is a defensive specialist from Firestone, Colo. has a cumulative GPA of 3.38 in Business.  She is fourth on the team with a 1.98 dig per set average.

Regis is currently 12-10 overall and 8-6 in the RMAC.
