Two Rangers Named to All-RMAC Volleyball Teams
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Sophomores Jessica Howe and Devin Eckhardt were named to the All-RMAC second and third team respectively. Howe and Eckhardt have helped lead the Rangers to a 16-11 overall record and the five seed in this weekend's RMAC Tournament.
Howe, an outside hitter from Pueblo, Colo., moved from middle hitter midway through the season and has been one of the best outside hitters in the conference since. Since moving to outside Howe has helped the Rangers to a 9-5 record, bettering their 7-6 record prior to the move. She leads the Rangers with 342 kills, a 3.39 kill per set average, ranking her fourth in the RMAC. She also leads the Rangers with 70 total blocks and 390.5 points and is second hitting .280. Since her move to outside hitter she has averaged 4.25 kills per set.
The two-year starting setter for the Rangers, Eckhardt was named to the third team a year after being named to the honorable mention team as a freshman in 2007. She is second on the RMAC in assists per set at 10.49 and leads the Rangers hitting at a .295 clip. She has eclipsed 40 assists in 13 matches and 50 assists in four. She is second on the Rangers with a 2.23 dig per game average, 230 digs. She has registered 10 double-doubles this season and is currently eighth all-time at Regis with 2,293 career assists.
Nebraska-Kearney sophomore middle hitter Jeri Walkowiak was tabbed as the RMAC Player of the Year. Regis plays the four-seed Fort Lewis Skyhawks Friday, Nov. 14 in the first round of the RMAC Tournament in Kearney, Neb.
