Regis Drops First Match of the Season to 20th Ranked Central Missouri

Denver, Colo.: The 2008 Premier Challenge is one of the toughest tournaments in the country and Regis today found out just how hard.  They took on 20th ranked Central Missouri in their initial game of the tournament falling in four sets for their first loss of the season.  Regis won the first set 25-20 behind six kills each from middle hitters Liz Franz and Jessica Howe.  The Rangers couldn't however, hold their momentum, losing the next three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-21.

Howe and sophomore right side hitter Kerry Grady each led the Rangers with 12 kills.  Sophomore setter Devin Eckhardt led the Rangers with 48 assists while also tallying 10 digs.  Freshman libero Casidee Young led Regis with 14 digs, while sophomore Sarah Keiter was just behind at 13.  Senior Hannah Tautolo chipped in with 11 digs.

Paula Harris led the Jennies with 14 kills, while Rachel Fister trailed with 12.  Taylor Krejci led all players with 22 digs.  Central Missouri, coached by volleyball coaching legend Peggy Martin improve to 4-2 on the season.

Play continues at the 2008 Premier Challenge Tournament with games at Regis and Metro State tonight and tomorrow.
