Franz Named RMAC East Division Player of the Week
Colorado Springs, Colo.: After helping the Rangers to a crucial
win against Colorado School of Mines last weekend, the Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) has named Liz Franz the RMAC
East Division Player of the Week. This is the first time she has
earned the honor in her career and is the first Rangers volleyball
player to earn Player of the Week honors this season. The
announcement came this afternoon from the conference office in
Colorado Springs, Colo.
In the last week of regular season play the Rangers split in
matches against UC-Colorado Springs and Colorado Mines. An
impressive effort as a team hitting the Rangers took UCCS, one of
the top teams in the East Division to five games. RU rallied back
on Friday in their final match of the regular season as they
defeated Mines in straight sets to secure a berth in the RMAC
Tournament for the second straight season.
Franz (Jr., Littleton, Colo.) was nearly unstoppable in both
matches. Against UCCS she recorded a career high 26 kills. She also
posted a .568 hitting percentage, eight digs and five blocks. She
continued her impressive play at Mines with 16 kills and a .303
hitting percentage.
On the week she averaged 5.25 kills and a .436 hitting percentage.
She is currently 8th in the RMAC in hitting percentage (.313). On
the season Franz has 320 kills, averaging 3.27 kills per game.
The Rangers are the 8th seed in the conference tournament this
week. They play they host and number one seed Nebraska-Kearney on
Friday, November 9th at 6:30 pm.
Regis University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in
the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
