Rangers Fall to Ft. Lewis 1-3
Durango, Colo.: The Rangers lost to the Ft. Lewis Skyhawks 1-3
tonight with scores of 28-30, 24-30, 30-27, 23-30. The loss will
bring RU to 8-12, 6-6 in the RMAC. Ft. Lewis is now 14-6, 10-2 and
at the top of the western division in the RMAC.
The Rangers kept the first game close, tying the score seven times
before they fell behind 26-22 and were unable to close the gap.
In the second game RU struggled with 10 attack errors keeping them
from ever taking the lead.
The third game looked as if it would have a similar fate as the
Rangers quickly fell to 0-5. They were able to rally back though
including three service aces from Liz Franz to win the third game
30-27 and kept them alive for the game four.
The fourth game the Rangers gained a lead of 16-12 but were unable
to hold off the Skyhawks as they came back tying the score at 20-20
and winning the game and match at 23-30.
There were three Regis players in the double digits of kills. Liz
Franz (Jr., Littleon, Colo.) had 11 kills, Jessica Howe (Fr.,
Pueblo, Colo.) had 10 kills and Meghan Meehan ( So., Huntington
Beach, Calif.) finished with 15 kills.
RU struggled on offense this evening with an overall hitting
percent or .108. 35 errors also contributed to the Rangers
loss.
The Rangers will take on Mesa State College on Grand Junction
tomorrow night at 7p.m.
