Franz and Eckhardt Earn All-RMAC Recognition
Colorado Springs, Colo.: The 2007 RMAC Volleyball Awards were
announced this morning as voted on by the coaches. The announcement
came from the conference office in Colorado Springs, Colo. Two
Rangers took home honors for the 2007 season.
Fort Lewis' Nicole Schwab was named the RMAC Player of the Year.
Metro State's Bri Ostler grabbed Defensive Player of the Year
honors. Cola Svec of UNK and Kelsey Ellis of Metro State were
Co-Freshmen of the Year. While Rick Squiers, head coach of
Nebraska-Kearney, was named the Coach of the Year.
Junior Liz Franz (Littleton, Colo.) adds to her list of awards this
week having just been named RMAC East Division Player of the Week.
Franz was named All-RMAC first team. During the regular season she
posted 320 kills and a .313 hitting percentage. Her .313 hitting
percentage was eighth best in the RMAC. She was also ranked 7th in
the conference in points averaging 4.01 per game. On the season she
collected 80 blocks, 26 service aces and 90 digs. In the Rangers
final week of regular season action Franz posted a career high 26
kills against UC-Colorado Springs.
Freshmen Devin Eckhardt (LaSalle, Colo.) finished the regular
season as one of the conferences top setters. Her played earned her
All-RMAC honorable mention honors. On the season Eckhardt was third
among setters in the RMAC in assists averaging 12.01 per game. In
conference action against UC-Colorado Springs she finished the
match with a season high 73 assists. On the season she posted 1177
assists, 14 service aces, 229 digs and 48 blocks.
The Rangers head to Kearney, Neb. this weekend to participate in
the RMAC Tournament for the second consecutive season. Regis will
take on top seed and tourney host Nebraska-Kearney of Friday,
November 8th, match is scheduled for 6:30 PM (MST).
