Rangers Score Four in Second Half to Defeat Winona State 4-0
Denver, Colo.: After a scoreless first half, the Rangers put four on the board in the second period to defeat Winona State 4-0. Jordan Miller scored two of those goals, and Lexi Tagen and Heather Thomas each had one.
After just nine shot attempts in the first half, six by Regis and three by Winona State, the score remained at zero's until 20 minutes into the second half when Jordan Miller scored Regis' first goal at the 65:54 mark. Chelsea Bokan served the ball to Miller who boldly took on multiple defenders to shoot for the goal.
Regis' next three goals all came within five minutes of each other with the first being scored by Thomas at the 78:09 mark. Thomas shot at a small angle from the right wing after receiving the ball from Tagen.
After assisting Thomas, Tagen scored her own goal just over three minutes later (81:27). Bokan assisted on the play, for her second assist of the game, after dribbling down field and crossing the ball through the Warrior defense to Tagen.
The fourth and final goal of the game was scored a two minutes later when Miller scored her second goal of the game, fifth of the season, at the 83:17 mark. She agian took on the Winona State defense and was able to shoot past Warrior goalkeeper Anna Belpedio.
Regis took 19 shots on the game, seven on goal, to the Warriors six (four on goal).
The Rangers will face #15 Minnesota State-Mankato on Sun., Sept. 6 at the Regis Match Pitch. Kickoff is set for noon.
