Rangers Outshoot UCCS 25 to 10 for 3-1 Defeat Over Mountain Lions
Denver, Colo.: After falling 3-0 to the Metro
State Roadrunners on Friday, the Rangers snagged a 3-1 victory over
UCCS at home on Sunday. Freshman Marissa Davis, and sophomores
Jordan Miller and Kari Taylor each had a goal in the game.
It seemed as though the entire first half was going to go scoreless
until just three and a half minutes remained when the Mountain
Lions (6-6, 5-6 RMAC) scored the first goal of the game. Julia
Saenz was the culprit.
That lead remained until seven minutes and 44 seconds into the
second period when Davis tied the game at one. Freshman Erin
Kettmann served the ball to Davis from midfield allowing Davis to
dribble in for the shot.
Kari Taylor put the Rangers (11-3-2, 8-2-2 RMAC) up by one when she
scored at the 76:41 mark. Senior Mallory Pillard’s shot was
deflected by UCCS goalkeeper Kayla Millar and retrieved by Miller
who served the ball to Taylor for the goal.
The final goal of the game was scored with just 37 seconds
remaining. Miller dribbled down field and passed a Mountain Lion
defender before sending the ball into UCCS’ lower right
net.
Regis outshot the Mountain Lions 25 to ten in the match while
placing 10 of those shots on goal.
The Rangers will face UCCS again on Wed. when they travel to
Colorado Springs. Kickoff is set for 7:30.
