Miller has Hat Trick in Rangers' 10-0 Defeat Over Nebraska-Kearney

Denver, Colo.: Sophomore Jordan Miller had a hat trick, scoring three goals and having three assists, as the Rangers defeated Nebraska-Kearney 10-0 in Denver on Friday. Freshmen Marissa Davis and Chelsea Bokan each had two goals in the match while sophomore Kari Taylor, junior Katie Horn, and senior Chelsea Reichard each had one.

The Rangers took an early lead as Miller scored her first goal of the game at the 5:08 mark. Less than one minute later (6:02), Davis scored giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead early on.

“That first initial goal was key and critical and then it was just in the flow and the rhythm today,” said Head Coach JB Belzer.

From that point on, Regis scored many consecutive goals at the 12:09 mark, the 13:33 mark, the 16:21 mark, and the 19:15 mark. They snuck one last goal in before the closing of the first half at the 31:38 mark to take a 7-0 lead going into the half.

During the second half of play, Regis scored three more goals to claim a 10-0 victory over the Lopers. The Rangers outshot Kearney 38 to 3 while having 16 shots on goal.

“We just decided that we wanted to play, and when we decide to play soccer we have the capability; we have an outstanding team," said Belzer. “It was a fantastic team collective effort. You have to look at Jordan Miller. At one point she was involved in six of the first seven goals or something to that effect. That’s a phenomenal performance."

After tying Nebraska-Kearney 0-0 in Kearney on Sept. 13th, the Rangers came out strong and ready to play.

“We were 0-0 away, and we had a few injuries that were difficult. We weren’t sharp finishing on the day so the challenge was before us. The kids had been circling this date since we were at Kearney," said Belzer. "We performed very well today. Clinical finishing, efficient ball movement, mentality to win balls, and that’s exactly what we asked of the players and they responded.”

The Rangers will face Mesa State in Grand Junction on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
