Senior Day Ends in 2-2 Tie to Mesa State

Denver, Colo.: Five Regis seniors played their final regular season home game on Sunday when the Rangers tied Mesa State 2-2. The day began with hugs and flowers to recognize five players; Chelsea Reichard, Marianne Clausen, Heidi Boersma, Lexi Tagen, and Heather Thomas.

After the congratulations, the game began. Mesa State (10-9-1, 7-8-1 RMAC) took the first lead of the game at the 23:30 mark when Brittany Cito shot from deep placing the ball in the upper left corner of the Rangers' net. This lead remained through the half.

Just under six minutes into the second period, Reichard scored her sixth goal of the season to tie the game at one. Thomas crossed the ball into the box where it deflected off of MSC goalkeeper Alicia Kahler and into the feet of Reichard who sent it into the net.

The tie remained for just over 13 minutes until Chelsea Bokan scored at the 64:39 mark to put Regis (13-3-4, 10-2-4 RMAC) up by one (2-1). Jordan Miller crossed the ball into Bokan who scored from right in front of the Mavericks' goal.

Regis held their lead until just over two minutes remained in the game when Daniela Ramirez scored at the 87:41 mark to tie the game at two. She was assisted by Megan Swan on the play. This goal sent the match into overtime.

After the first 10 minute overtime period went scoreless a second one followed. After neither team was able to score, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Rangers will face Mesa State in their next matchup on Wednesday Nov. 4th at the Regis Match Pitch. This game marks the first round of RMAC post season play with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
