Four Rangers Gain All-RMAC Honors; Marissa Davis Named Freshman of the Year
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Four Rangers received All-Conference honors the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Wednesday. Marissa Davis earned RMAC Freshman of the Year honors while being joined on the All-RMAC First Team by sophomore Jordan Miller. Seniors Chelsea Reichard and Heidi Boersma were both named to the second team.
Davis is the fifth Regis player from Regis since 1996, when the award began, to be named Freshman of the Year. In her first season at Regis, Davis has scored ten goals while assisting on eight, both second on the team while totaling for 28 points in the season. In the RMAC, she is fifth in points, points per game and assists.
Miller, last year's Freshman of the Year, also received first team honors. With 41 points on the season, Miller is the Rangers' leading scorer with 14 goals and also leads the team in assists (13). In 80 shots, she has placed 40 on goal for a .500 shot on goal percentage. Miller is third in the RMAC in goals, goals per game (0.67), points and points per game (1.95). Her 13 assists are tied for the RMAC lead while her 0.62 assist per game average ranks her second.
Reichard has played and started in all 21 games for the Rangers this season. She has scored six goals, her career high, and totaled 12 points so far this year. She is tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals.
Boersma has played and started in 17 games and has assisted on one goal this season. She has tallied one point this season and been a top defender for the Rangers this season. This is the third straight season that Boersma has been named Second Team All-RMAC.
After defeating Mesa State in the RMAC first round, the Rangers will continue their season in a match against Metro State on Friday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. at Metro.
