Rangers Place Six Players on RMAC All-Academic Teams

Colorado Springs, Colo.: Six Rangers were placed on the 2009 Women's Soccer Rocky Moutain Athletic Conference All-Academic Teams the conference announced Thursday. For this recognition, a student-athlete must hold a 3.30 or higher GPA, be a starter or reserve, and have completed either two consecutive semesters or three quarters at his or her current institution.

Receiving First Team honors were senior Heidi Boersma with a 3.78 in Math and Education and junior Danielle Lardner with a 3.73 in Finance and Marketing. Boersma, from Littleton, Colo., was also a first team honoree last season and has started in all 10 games in which she has played this season.  Lardner, a native of Albuquerque, N.M., has played in all 14 games, while starting eight was a second team honoree in 2008.

Junior Katie Horn (3.59 in Business Administration) and senior Marianne Clausen (3.74 in Mathematics) both were named to the Second Team. Horn, from Wheat Ridge, Colo., has started all 14 games and is tied for fourth with four goals while also assisting on one other goal.  Clausen, from Longmont, Colo., has started six games and played in eight as goalkeeper.  She was thrust into the starting role six games ago after an injury to starter Rosie Campbell.  She has a 4-1-1 record in goal.

On the Honor Roll was junior Kalley Mahaffey who holds a 3.47 in International Business and sophomore Kari Taylor with a 3.50. Mahaffey, from Bothell, Wash., has started all 14 games and has one assist on the season.  Last season she was also an honor roll member.  Taylor, from Erie, Colo., has played in 10 games garnering three starts.  She has scored four goals and has also registered three assists.
