Rangers Outshoot Adams State 31 to 15 to Grab a 9-2 Victory over the Grizzlies

Denver, Colo.: The Rangers tallied 31 shots to the Grizzlies' 15 on Sunday to grab a 9-2 victory over Adams State at home. Marissa Davis, Kari Taylor, and Chelsea Bokan had two goals each while Jordan Miller, Maddie Reeves, and Katie Horn each had one.

The game began and a short 5:18 into the first period Marissa Davis dribbled down the right side of the field and slammed the ball into the upper left corner of the Grizzlies net for the first goal of the game. Less than two minutes later (7:04) she struck again. Miller passed to Davis who shot from the left side. The ball bounced off of the right pole and into the net for goal number two (2-0).

Bokan scored her first collegiate goal and her first of two in the game at the 24:26 mark. Shawnee Wood passed to Bokan and drew out Grizzly goalie Kirsten Dorsey. Bokan tapped the ball past Dorsey for the goal (3-0).

Regis' lead increased to 4-0 at the 36:36 mark when Miller scored her eighth goal of the season. Davis served the ball to Miller who dribbled in for the shot. Just over three minutes later, Maddie Reeves scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick to put the Rangers up 5-0.

The Rangers snuck one more goal in before the closing of the first half. Kari Taylor dribbled down the field and forced the goalie out of the net. Taylor kicked the ball past Dorsey to put the Rangers up 6-0.

Adams State scored their first goal of the game after the start of the second period when Jessica Hellweg scored at the 66:02 mark. Four minutes later, Bokan scored her second goal of the day when Katie King served her the ball for the shot (7-1).

With just over ten minutes remaining in the game (79:28), Katie Horn drilled a deep shot just over the fingertips of midair ASC goalkeeper, Dorsey, to set the score at 8-1. Hellewg scored her second goal of the game just under three minutes later (82:00) two decrease their deficit to 6 (8-2). Taylor was assisted by Ryndi Zastrow on the last goal of the game with just one minute remaining to end the game 9-2 in favor of Regis.

The Rangers totaled 17 shots on goal in the match while holding the Grizzlies to just eight.

Regis will face Colorado Mines in their next matchup on Wed., Sept. 23rd. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Regis Match Pitch.
