Rangers Fall in Season Opener to Nationally Ranked Winona State

Winona, Minn.: The Regis Ranger women's soccer team today fell in their season opener 2-1 in overtime to #19 Winona State.  The Rangers are coming off a trip to Europe in preparation for this season.  The Rangers lone goal came from senior all-RMAC forward Carter Cornett.

The Rangers limited the potent Warrior offense to just 11 shots and seven on goal.  Holly Redmond records the loss but played well in goal saving five shots.  The Rangers struck first when Jordan Miller passed to Cornett for the goal just over 32 minutes into the game.  The Rangers went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Winona State scored at the 62:37 mark to tie the game before scoring the winning goal just 54 seconds into the overtime period.

The Rangers' schedule doesn't get any easier as they take on ninth-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday before returning home next weekend for a pair of home matches.
