Four Rangers Earn All-RMAC; Jordan Miller Named Freshman of the Year and JB Belzer Tabbed as Coach of the Year


Colorado Springs, Colo.: The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference today announced the women's soccer All-RMAC teams.  Regis, who is the second seed in the RMAC Postseason Tournament had four named to the first and second teams.  Freshman Jordan Miller picked up the Freshman of the Year award while head coach JB Belzer was selected as conference Coach of the Year.  Senior Carter Cornett was named first team, while Miller and juniors Heidi Boersma and Lexi Tagen were tabbed second team.

Senior forward Carter Cornett from Edmond, Okla. was unanimous choice First Team All-RMAC.  This is the second season in a row that Cornett has been named to the first team.  She led the conference in goals scored (23), points (51) and game-winning goals (6).  Her 53 career goals are tied for fourth all-time in RMAC history and are tied for second in Regis annals.  She earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week once this season and has recorded three hat tricks.  Her 23 goals scored are tied for fifth all-time in the RMAC in one season.  Cornett has scored in every game she has played in this season except three and her 23 goals are one more than the Rangers' opponents have scored on them the whole season.

Forward Jordan Miller from Santa Fe, N.M. has been setting records left and right at Regis.  She holds freshman school records in goals scored (15), points (39), points per game (2.17), goals per game (0.83) and tied for a school record with five game-winning goals.  She is second on the Rangers team with nine assists ranking her second in the conference.  Miller finished fourth in the conference in both goals scored and points this season.  Miller was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week once.

Defender Heidi Boersma from Littleton, Colo. was the top defender for the Rangers.  She helped them to eight shutouts this season third best in the RMAC.  The stingy Ranger defense has allowed just 22 goals, fourth best with a 1.16 goals against average.  Boersma has attempted six shots this season with two being on goal.  Boersma was also a second team selection a year ago.

Midfielder Lexi Tagen from Manitou Springs, Colo. leads the Rangers and the RMAC with 10 assists.  Her 10 assists is the third highest total in Regis history.  She has started all 19 games this season and is third on the team with six goals scored.

Head Coach JB Belzer was selected the RMAC Coach of the Year for the third time in 13 seasons at the helm of the Rangers.  He also won the award in 1996 and again in 2000.  He has led the Rangers to a 14-5 record this season and has only one losing season in 13 years.  He has a combined 183-79-12 record for an astounding .690 win percentage.  He is 118-41-6 in RMAC games for a .733 win percentage.

Regis is currently riding an eight-game winning streak and is the second seed in the upcoming RMAC tournament held at Metro State.
