Carter Cornett Scores Three Goals in Rangers Defeat of Grand Canyon Lopes
Denver, Colo.: Carter Cornett scored three goals to help the Rangers defeat the Grand Canyon University Lopes 6-1 Friday at the Regis Match-Pitch.
Jordan Miller scored her second goal of the season seven minutes and 42 seconds into the match to give Regis, now 2-1 overall, the lead. With just close to nine minutes left in the first half, Heather Thomas assisted Carter Cornett's third goal of the season. Just over three minutes later, Lexi Tagen scored to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead going into the second half. Kari Taylor assisted on the play.
Five minutes and 48 seconds into the second half Carter Cornett struck again. She was assisted by her twin sister Cassie Cornett on the play which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead over the Lopes.
It would be another eight minutes before Miller would score on an assist from Katie Horn. Carter Cornett was assisted just over two minutes later by Lexi Tagen for her fifth goal this season and the Rangers sixth of the game.
With just under five minutes remaining, Angelina Massagli scored on an unassisted goal to keep the Lopes from being shutout.
The Rangers next game will be Sunday when they face Washburn University at noon.
