Grand Junction, Colo.: Junior Emily Behr notched seven goals and helped the 14th-ranked Ranger women's lacrosse team to an 18-5 victory over Colorado Mesa. Behr, scored the third most goals in one game with the seven and her 55 points scored this season (34 goals, 21 assists) are the most in one season in Regis history.
Colorado Mesa (7-6, 1-3 RMAC) got on the board first just three minutes into the game but then the Rangers went on an onslaught. Over the next 12 minutes, the Rangers scored seven goals including two from Behr to take a 7-1 lead with 15:31 left in the first half.
RU went through a 11 minute drought but only allowed two Maverick goals and went into halftime with a 9-4 lead. Regis scored the first four goals of the second half, two more by Behr, and allowed just one CMU goal in the second half.
Gianna Lombardi was stellar in goal stopping 10 of the 15 shots on goals from the Mavericks for a .667 save percentage. She lowered her season goals against average to 7.00. Lombardi also picked up a team-best five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Behr's seven goals was just two behind the school record of nine scored by Chrissy Yetter in 2006. She also topped the team with eight draw controls and scored her seven goals on just eight shots.
This was the only game for the Rangers this week and they will finish the regular season next Thursday with a game against Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
