Rangers Win Third Straight with 14-5 Decision Over Mercy

Denver, Colo.: The Regis University women's lacrosse team won their third straight with a 14-5 decision over Mercy (N.Y.).  

Regis (3-2) scored the first six goals of the season including two by Erin Todd.  The Rangers continued putting the pressure on Mercy (1-4) and led at halftime 10-3.  RU took 13 shots to just eight for Mercy and out-shot the Mavericks 28-13 for the entire game.

The Rangers stretched their lead to 14-4 just under 10 minutes left in the game and RU allowed just one more goal in the 14-5 win.  There were eight yellow cards handed out in the game, including five in the first half.

Hilary Duda and Emily Behr each tallied three goals.  Maribel Gallegos led the team with three assists and also chipped in with two goals.  Behr was right behind with two assists as was Emily Elkins.  Melissa Hastie led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.  Danica Cutshall had five of the Rangers 14 draw controls while also scoring one goal and assisting on another.

Gianna Lombardi was solid in goal again with six saves on 11 shots, while allowing just five goals.

The Rangers have one more game this week with their first RMAC contest of the season.  They will host Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
