All-WILA Teams Announced; Cutshall and Perrella Named to First Team
Alamosa, Colo.: The Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its postseason awards and Regis landed 11 on the three teams including sophomore Danica Cutshall and freshman Sierra Perrella being named to the first team.
Senior Morgan Taylor was named to the second team along with freshmen Emily Behr, Hilary Duda and Gianna Lombardi. Seniors Erin Dybus and Ari McDonald along with juniors Margaret Nahrup, Jessika Carlstron and Erin Flynn were all tabbed honorable mention.
Cutshall shattered her previous school record of 52 draw controls last season with a whopping 122. Cutshall, from Lakeville, Minn., also led the Rangers in goals (36) and assists (17). Her 53 total points ties her own season record that she set last season. This is the second year in a row that Cutshall has earned First Team All-WILA.
Perrella, from Novato, Calif., led the Rangers from her defensive position with 26 caused turnovers, while playing all 17 games. She also led the team with 40 ground balls which is 10th most in Regis history. She also scored four goals on just six shots, while also assisting on three others.
Taylor, from Overland Park, Kan., was second on the team with 34 goals and 15 assists and leaves Regis as the second all-time leading goal scorer with 96 goals. In 2011, Taylor was a unanimous All-WILA First Team member.
Behr, from St. Louis, Mo., was third on the team with 31 goals scored. She led the team with 70 shots attempted, while also leading the team with five man-up goals scored. Behr also tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals and tied the Regis freshman record with 53 draw controls.
The Minnetonka, Minn. native, Duda, put in 27 goals while playing all 17 games. She was fourth for Regis with 10 assists.
Lombardi started 16 of the 17 games for Regis in goal and went 8-8. She had 119 saves for a .384 save percentage. The Arvada, Colo. native had an 11.80 goals against average which is fourth best all time at Regis.
Dybus who will play one more season at Regis due to an injury her freshman year scored 22 goals on 51 shots. She was named to the All-WILA First Team in 2011.
McDonald was third on the team with 12 assists while scoring 20 goals and two-game winning goals. McDonald was named to the WILA honorable mention team in 2011.
Nahrup finished up the season on a roll and finished the season with 24 goals scored and was fourth on the team with 28 ground balls. Defender Carlstrom was third on the team with 32 ground balls while causing 12 turnovers. Fellow defender Flynn played in 16 games, including one in goal. She was third on the team with 16 caused turnovers and grabbed 21 ground balls. Last season, Nahrup was named to the All-WILA Second Team while Carlstrom earned honorable mention honors.
Regis finished second in the WILA with a 6-2 loop record and a 9-8 overall record. The Rangers finished the season by defeating #2 ranked Rollins 14-13.
