Regis Women's Lacrosse Drops Low-Scoring Game to Colorado College 9-6
Colorado Springs, Colo.: The high-scoring Regis University women's lacrosse team was held to just six goals in a 9-6 loss to rival Colorado College.
Colorado College (1-0) scored the first two goals of the game but Regis (1-1) responed with two of their own over a four-minute span to tie the game at two. Freshman Melissa Hastie scored her the Rangers first goal while senior Erin Dybus notched a goal off an assist from senior Morgan Taylor.
The two teams traded goals and Regis tied the score at three when Taylor scored on a free position shot. Colorado College went into halftime after Madeline Pitkin scored unassisted with 4:15 remaining in the first half.
The Rangers again tied the game just 24 seconds into halftime when sophomore Kelsey O'Connor scored her fourth goal of the season. The Tiger offense and defense prevailed over the next 10 minutes to take a 7-4 lead with 19:34 remaining.
Regis responed with two goals the latter coming at 14:37 remaining by Nahrup, preceeded by Taylor's second goal of the game.
Unfortunately, that would be the last time the Rangers would score and Colorado College tacked on two more goals to finish the game with a 9-6 victory.
Freshman Gianna Lombardi notched nine saves in goal for the Rangers.
The Rangers stay on the road as they travel east to take on Queens (N.C.) on Thursday, March 1st.
