Erin Dybus and Chani Taggart Named WILA Players of the Week
Alamosa, Colo.: Senior Chani Taggart and junior Erin Dybus are two reasons that the Regis women's lacrosse team have captured the inaugural Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association championship. They have been awarded for their play the last two weeks as defensive and offensive players of the week, respectively.
Taggart, from Boise, Idaho, was thrown into the goalkeeping role following an injury to starter Erin Lewis. Taggart didn't disappoint as she was named last week's WILA Defensive Player of the Week after going 1-0 with eight saves and allowing just five goals. She also picked up three ground balls for the 8-1 Rangers.
This is the second award of the week for Dybus as she captured both the WILA Offensive Player of the Week award to go along with an honor roll award from Synapse Sports. The St. Louis, Mo. native, Dybus scored four goals in each of the Rangers three victories last week. She also tallied three assists in the Rangers 19-3 victory over Adams State on Saturday. She also got four ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Regis will host Mesa State on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
