Rangers Give Senior Brittany Farniok Proper Send Off with 17-0 Victory over Fort Lewis
Denver, Colo.: The final game in a Regis uniform for senior Brittany Farniok couldn't have gone any better as she notched a combined shutout in a 17-0 white-washing of Fort Lewis. Farniok, the all-time leader in career wins at Regis, played the first half in goal and the second half at midfield.
Regis, who finished their season 3-7, scored their first goal just 58 seconds into the first half on their way to a 12-0 halftime lead. The Ranger defense was on point the whole day as they allowed just seven shots and caused 17 turnovers.
Regis scored five goals in the second half while tallying 31 shots for the game. The Rangers were able to take 16 of 19 draw controls which led directly to many of their 17 goals.
Sophomore Erin Dybus led eight different Rangers who scored with four goals. Dybus and junior Cristina Johnson led the Rangers with two assists apiece. Junior Kelsi Goings and sophomore Morgan Taylor each tallied three goals. Two Rangers, junior Chani Taggart and sophomore Nicole La Cassa each netted their first goals of the season in an exciting finish to a frustrating season.
Sophomore Carly Wagner led Regis with four draw controls, while freshman Jessika Carlstrom had a game-high six ground balls.
Junior Erin Lewis relieved Farniok in the second half and combined with her for the shutout notching four saves.
