Ranger Women's Lacrosse Loses Tough One to Colorado College 12-11

Denver, Colo.: The Regis Rangers and Colorado College have had a lot of close battles over the past four years and today's women's lacrosse battle was no different.  The score was tied seven times throughout the game but when the final buzzer went off the Tigers had the upper hand at 12-11.

Regis (1-4) struck first when sophomore AriAnna McDonald scored a free position shot just under five minutes into the game.  10 minutes later McDonald scored her second goal of the game to help the Rangers to a 2-1 lead.

Colorado College (5-1) took their biggest lead, 8-5, with just 3:14 remaining in the first half but the Rangers were able to cut the lead to 8-6 when junior Cristina Johnson scored one of her team-leading three goals with just over one minute left in the first half.

Colorado College scored three of their goals when they were down one person and one more when they had a one-woman advantage.  Regis trailed 9-7 with 19:30 left before going on a 4-1 run to tie the game at nine with 16:25 remaining.

The Rangers took an 11-10 lead with just 8:50 remaining on a free position shot by Johnson.  Ginna Oates of Colorado College tied the score at 11 with 5:12 left in the game, while with just 3:34 remaining Holly McHugh scored the game winner.

Freshman Jessika Carlstrom and sophomore Erin Dybus chipped in with two goals apiece, while sophomore Morgan Taylor and freshman Margaret Nahrup each scored one.  Nahrup led the team with two assists while sophomore Carly Wagner had a game-high eight ground balls.  Nahrup also did a great job getting the Ranger offense started grabbing a game-high nine draw controls.

Senior Brittany Farniok had three saves for Regis while playing all 60 minutes.

Regis will travel to Fort Lewis on April 2nd for a 2:00 p.m. start
