Rangers Fall in Season Finale to Georgian Court 16-10
Lakewood, N.J.: The Ranger women's lacrosse team finished out their 2009 season with three road games to the east coast. The Rangers were 0-2 in their first two games and ran into a good Georgian Court team falling their season finale 16-10.
Regis (6-6) got on the board first when sophomore Kelsi Goings scored at the 26:43 mark, unfortunately the Rangers would not score again in over 10 minutes as Georgian Court (14-2) 5-2 lead after senior Julia Ostberg tallied her first score of the game.
The two teams traded goals the remainder of the first half and with just 10 seconds remaining in the first half Regis allowed Georgian Court to score a goal that turned the momentum in their direction.
Georgian Court scored the first four goals of the second half, but Regis was able to score five of the next eight goals and the final two to make it 16-10.
Regis was able to score on 10 of their 18 shots but allowed Georgian Court to get off 30 shot attempts.
Goings led Regis with four goals, while Ostberg playing in her final collegiate game tallied three goals. Freshman Kate Liddle put in two, while freshman AriAnna McDonald finished up the scoring with one goal. Fellow freshman Morgan Taylor led Regis with three assists.
Also playing in her final collegiate contest, Ashley Beauchemin, led the Ranger defense with six draw controls and cause two turnovers.
Freshman Liddle established a new Regis record with 51 points, but was just three goals short of the Regis season record as she tallied 42 this season.
Goings and Taylor were tied for the team lead with 12 assists this season which is also a new Regis season record breaking the old record of 11 set by Cindy Scavarda (2002).
Beauchemin also broke a season record this season as she caused 29 turnovers, she broke her own record of 22 set last season.
