Rangers Jump Out Early, Cruise to 16-4 Win Over Fort Lewis
Durango, Colo.: The Regis Ranger women's lacrosse team scored the first three goals and the nine of the first 10 goals to take a commanding 9-1 lead at halftime en route to a 16-4 defeat of Fort Lewis.
Regis (6-2) had their way with the first-year Skyhawks outshooting the home team 34-8. Regis scored three quick goals one each by senior Julia Ostberg, and freshman Kate Liddle and AriAnna McDonald. Ashley Perkins scored the first goal for Fort Lewis at the 20:08 mark, but Regis responded by scoring the next six goals to take the 9-1 lead at halftime. Ostberg scored three of her game-high seven goals during that 6-0 run.
Fort Lewis (0-6) scored just over a minute and a half into the second half, but Regis again poured on the offense with four consecutive goals, two of which came from sophomore Cristina Johnson.
After Ostberg's seven goals, Johnson tallied three, while Liddle, McDonald and fellow freshman Morgan Taylor each netted two goals. Taylor led the Rangers with three assists, while Johnson paced Regis with seven ground balls. Liddle led Regis with four draw controls on the afternoon.
Regis will do battle with Colorado College in Durango, tomorrow April 4th.
