Rangers Match Season-High with 18 Goals in 18-8 Win Over Fontbonne
Denver, Colo.: Regis matched their season-high with 18 goals in 18-8 victory over Fontbonne Monday afternoon at the Regis Lacrosse Field. Regis improves their record to 4-1 on the season while Fontbonne drops to 1-2 on the season.
Sophomore Cristina Johnson got the scoring started for Regis when 20 seconds in she scored off an assist from AriAnna McDonald. Regis scored 12 more goals in the first half to take a 13-5 lead.
Seniors Ashley Beauchemin and Julia Ostberg played in their final home game of their career and were very instrumental in the victory. Beauchemin led the Rangers with four ground balls and also had four caused turnovers. Ostberg tied for the team lead with four goals and two assists. Freshman Kate Liddle also scored four goals, while freshman Carly Wagner garnered her career-high with three goals. Johnson also tallied three goals and helped the Rangers to a 33-16 advantage in shot attempts.
Junior Brittany Farniok had two saves and improves to 4-1 on the season. Sophomore Erin Lewis played the second half and had three saves allowing just three goals.
Regis will play again on March 26th as they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to take on Southern Connecticut State.
