Rangers Can't Keep Pace with Bloomsburg in Second Half Falling 22-10
Bloomsburg, Penn.: The Regis Ranger women's lacrosse team travelled east where it was sunny and 76 degrees and at halftime trailed 10-8 before Bloomsburg University outscored Regis 12-2 in the second half to win 22-10.
Senior Julia Ostberg got Regis (6-4) on the scoreboard first at the 27:44 mark. Sophomore Kelsi Goings scored a free position shot at 23:46 to tie Bloomsburg (11-4) at two. 38 seconds later freshman Kate Liddle tallied her first of the game to put Regis up one goal.
Bloomsburg scored the next three before Liddle tallied her second goal of the game and sophomore Cristina Johnson once again tied the game, this time at five apiece with 14:33 left in the first half.
Liddle and Goings scored one more time each in the first half to cut the Bloomsburg lead to just 10-8. Liddle's third goal of the game tied her for second place in Regis lacrosse history with Jen Gunlickson (2007) with 38 goals on the season.
The second half was a different story as Bloomsburg scored the first nine goals of the half to take a commanding 19-8 lead. The Rangers two goals in the second half were scored by Johnson and freshman Morgan Taylor.
Liddle scored three goals, while Goings, Johnson and Ostberg each tallied two goals. Senior Ashley Beauchemin led Regis with nine groundballs but Regis was plaqued with 42 turnovers.
Regis is next in action on Sunday as they take on Millersville University.
