The 2011-12 golf season will be Paula Bauer's eighth year as Regis University's women's golf coach. The head coach since Regis added women's golf as an intercollegiate varsity sport prior to the 2004-05 season, Bauer and her Rangers enjoyed their finest season in 2010-11.
For the first time in program history Regis was ranked in the NCAA Division II Central Region rankings when on April 1, 2010 the Rangers were ranked 12th and held that spot for the final three weeks of the 2009-10 season.
In 2010-11, the Rangers broke the school record for scoring average by posting a team average of 343.7 over 18 rounds compared to the 2009-10 team who previously held the record with a 347.9 average.
The Rangers also had another first in 2009-10 when freshman Lara Pocs qualified for the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament in the spring of 2010. Pocs became Bauer's second student-athlete to earn the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, doing so in 2009-10 and followed that up with a return trip to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament.
Bauer has coached the 2006-07 RMAC Freshman of the Year in
Cecilia Silfverskiold and RMAC Tournament MVP in 2009 in Alex
Semanko. Silfverskiold was also a two-time All-RMAC honoree.
Pocs is also a two-time All-RMAC honoree as is Semanko.
Bauer, a Member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association
(LPGA), has served as a Pro Shop Specialist at Fox Hollow Golf
Course in Lakewood, Colo., since the summer of 1993.
Bauer currently makes her home in Lakewood.
