Regis Women's Golf Sits in Third Place After Day One of RMAC Championships
Litchfield Park, Ariz.: The Regis University women's golf team shot their second lowest 18-hole score in Regis history at an RMAC Championship event and sit in third place and are just seven strokes behind team leader Western New Mexico.
Last season's team shot a 328 in the second round. CSU-Pueblo sits in second place with a 330 and more importantly the Rangers are leading teams that are currently ahead of them in the regional rankings.
Senior Alex Semanko leads the Rangers with an 81 (40-41) at Wigwam Golf Course (72-6200) and is in sixth place overall. Freshman Ashley Karl carded identical 41s for a career-low 82 to sit in a tie for seventh.
Freshman Nicole Hulbert started off a little slow with a 45 on the front nine but responded well with a team-best 39 on the back nine for an 84. Junior Lara Pocs is tied for 14th, while freshman Sara Shafer is in 18th. Pocs shot an 85 (41-44), while Shafer was one stroke behind (42-44).
The teams will compete in one more round tomorrow morning.
