Regis University Women's Golf Finishes Third in Final Tuneup

Grand Junction, Colo.: The final tuneup for the Regis University women's golf team before the RMAC Championships and possibly their first NCAA Regional berth was the Colorado Mesa Maverick Spring Invite where the Rangers finished in third with a 675 score.

Colorado Mesa won the event held at Tiara Rado Golf Course (71-5908) with a team score of 644, while CSU-Pueblo was next at 664.

Freshman Nicole Hulbert led the Rangers with a 163 following her opening round 75 with an 88 to tie for fifth place.  Fellow freshman Sara Shafer had the low second round for the Rangers with an 80 for a 36-hole total of 167 to tie for seventh.

Junior Lara Pocs carded an 82 in the final round to finish one stroke and one place behind Shafer.  Senior Alex Semanko finished with a 177 in her final regular season tournament to tie for 13th place, while freshman Ashley Karl went 90-96 for a 186 and a 15th place finish.

The RMAC Championships begin next Monday in Litchfield Park, Ariz. at Wigwam Country Club.
