Regis Freshman Lara Pocs Makes History by Earning a Spot at the Central/West Super Regional
Denver, Colo.: History was made today when Regis freshman golfer Lara Pocs was named to the Central/West Super Regional NCAA Championships. It marks the first time in Regis women's golf history that anyone has qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Pocs, from Westminster, Colo., led the Rangers in scoring at 83.6 over 17 rounds this season, her low 18 of 76 occurred at the RMAC Championships in the first round last week. She had five rounds in the 70s and had just one round over 89. Pocs left her best for last as she tallied a season-low 36-hole total of 155 at the RMAC Championships finishing in fifth place.
Super Regional 3 will take place May 2-4 at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minnesota and will be hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato.
The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the championships. The 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 12-15, at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
