Regis Women's Golf Ties for Third at Quality Inn Spring Invite; Sophomore Alex Semanko Ties for Seventh
Grand Junction, Colo.: With the threat of impending weather on the western slope, the Quality Inn Spring Invite was shortened to just one day. The teams played all 36 holes on Monday rather than splitting up the 36 holes over Monday and Tuesday. When the weary golfers finished their rounds Regis wound up tied for third with Chadron State shooting a 749.
Host Mesa State took the team title with a 36-hole total of 670 while Jennifer Hilts of Mesa State took the individual title with a 159. Adams State was runner-up with a team total of 733, while Hilts' teammate Michelle Stripp and Codi Hegg of Adams State finished in a tie for second each carding a 166.
The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa (par 72-5,821 yards) was where the tournament was held and saw the Rangers being led by sophomore Alex Semanko's 177 (93-84) tying her for seventh. Freshman Lara Pocs (88-91) finished in a tie for 13th with a 36-hole total of 179. Juniors Emily Einfeldt and Kacee Harris finished in 16th and 23rd place respectively. Einfeldt shot a 93 and 97 for a total of 190 while Harris (101-102) carded a 203. Freshman Erin Andres was a consistent 104 on each 18 for a 208 total.
The Rangers have just one more meet remaining as they will travel to Goodyear, Ariz. to take part in the RMAC Championships at the Estrella Mountain Golf Course April 19-20.
