Three Women’s Basektball Rangers Named to All-RMAC Teams; Purdy to First
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference welcomed three women's basketball Rangers onto the All-RMAC teams. Sophomore Tae'lor Purdy was named to the first team, while senior Kari Ameling and sophomore Brandi Collins were named a third team selection.
Purdy, a native of Agate, Colo., has been a mainstay on the hardwood for the Rangers throughout the 2011-12 season. She leads the Rangers in both points (16.0) and rebounds (6.3) per game, while hitting on 142-of-396 attempts from the field for a .359 field goal percentage. She hit on 42-of-125 from long distance for a .336 three-point field goal percentage. She has tallied 27 steals, 10 blocks and 29 assists total, while earning Women's Basketball Jesuit Honors status twice throughout the season for her efforts. Purdy, along with Ameling, were the only two athletes to start every single contest this season for the Rangers.
From Greeley, Colo., Ameling has been working hard on the court during her senior season. She put up 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a post, hitting on .399 percent (101-253) from the field and .727 (64-88) from the charity stripe. She picked up 40 assists and seven blocks, while leading the Rangers with 48 steals. Ameling was named to the RMAC Academic All-Conference Honor Roll as well this year.
Our last All-RMAC athlete started in 23 games, while playing in all 28. She hit on 102-of-221 from the field for a .462 field goal percentage and 41-101 from long distance for a .406 three-point percentage. Collins led the team with 91 assists, while tying for a team second with 43 steals. The sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo. picked up two blocks on the season while averaging 10.0 points per game. She also earned Women's Basketball Jesuit Honors throughout the season.
The women finished out 11-17 in overall play and 9-13 in the RMAC Conference.
