Rangers Fall 67-57 to Metro State for First RMAC Loss of the Season
Denver, Colo.: On Saturday, the Rangers fell for the first time in five games as they dropped their first RMAC game of the season to Metro State, 67-57, at Metro. Two Rangers tallied double digits, Salina Kuiper (11) and Lauren Luebbe (10), but it wasn't enough for Regis.
The game began with the Roadrunners taking the first lead and extending it to nine as they went on a 13-4 run during the first six minutes of play. While the Rangers fought back during the half, they went into the break down by nine (32-23).
During the second half, over a period of just less than ten minutes, Metro State increased their lead to 25 with 8:11 remaining as they went on a 25-9 run. For the remainder of the game, the Rangers cut their deficit to ten as they answered back going on a 23-8 run of their own. Unfortunately this comeback wasn't enough as Regis fell at the buzzer 67-57 to MSCD.
Behind Kuiper and Luebbe in scoring was Meagan Nickell who chimed in with nine points and Kari Ameling who scored eight. Brandi Collins scored six for the Rangers and dished out five assists. Leading RU in boards was Kaitie Vader with seven.
Up next, the Rangers will travel to Gunnison, Colo. where they will take on the Western State Mountaineers on Jan. 2nd. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
