Rangers Grab 20-Point Victory Over UCCS on Road

Colorado Springs, Colo.: After succumbing to Metro State on Tuesday, 65-54, Regis grabbed a 20-point victory over UCCS, 92-72, while on the road on Friday. Leading the Rangers in scoring was Emily Kuipers with 24 points followed by Tae'lor Purdy with 21. Salina Kuiper tallied 15 points while Jacque Machesney had 14.

The Rangers (9-8, 2-7 RMAC) grabbed the first lead of the game and were able to hang on to it throughout play. During the first half, at the 7:02 mark, Regis went on a 7-0 run to go up 43-17 over a two minute period. At the break, the Rangers had a 27 point lead over the Mountain Lions (5-11, 1-7 RMAC).

Baskets were exchanged throughout the second half until the buzzer when Regis walked away with a 92-72 victory.

While Purdy scored in double digits for the Rangers, her defense was also strong as she pulled down 15 rebounds in the game. As Machesney also scored in double digits, she dished out eight assists, was 3-5 from the field and the three-point line, and was 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Kuipers who scored 24 points on the night, was an impressive 10-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from deep.

Up next, Regis will face Colorado Christian at home on Jan. 29th. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
