Purdy Receives Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-RMAC East Division Honors
Denver, Colo.: Leading the Rangers with 14.7 points and 6.7 boards per game, Tae'lor Purdy received RMAC Freshman of the Year honors, as voted on by the 14 RMAC head coaches Wednesday. Purdy was also named to the Second Team All-RMAC East Division.
As a freshman, Purdy scored in double digits in all but five of the Rangers' 27 games. Six times, she scored 20-or-more points for Regis and four times she pulled down boards in the double digits.
Also named the RMAC East Division Freshman of the Year, her 14.7 points per game places Purdy eighth in scoring in the RMAC and she sits in 12th with her 6.7 rebounds per game. From the floor, she sank 129 baskets in 305 attempts to place her 24th in the conference with a .423 field goal percentage.
While Purdy was the Rangers leading scorer, she also dished out her share of assists as she recorded 65 during the season which was the second best mark on the team. With 65 assists in 27 games played, Purdy averaged 2.4 per game which is the 22nd best in the RMAC.
Purdy also holds the some of the best marks in the conference in three-point percentage (6th, .404), three-pointers made per game (18th, 1.4), and free throw percentage (27th, .692).
Not only did she stand out in the RMAC, but she also broke the
freshman scoring record at Regis by tallying 397 points this
season. She outscored Denise Durant who scored 350 points during
her freshman season in 1979-80.
The Rangers completed the season with a 10-17 overall record while
going 3-16 in the RMAC.
