Rangers Score Just 41 in Loss to Metro; Kuiper Breaks Regis Blocking Record

Denver, Colo.: As the Rangers fell 70-41 to Metro State on Tuesday, they scored the lowest total points for a Regis women's team in nearly six years. On Dec. 31, 2004, Regis also scored 41 points against Loyola. Chelsea Porter led the Rangers with eight points against the Roadrunners while Tae'lor Purdy scored seven.

During the first half, although the Rangers never grabbed the lead, they tied the score twice. With 15 minutes remaining in the half, the Roadrunners took the lead and were able to hang onto it for the remainder of the period. At the break, Metro State had a 20 point lead.

The Roadrunners increased their 20 point lead by nine during the second half to walk away with a 29 point victory (70-41) over the Rangers.

As Regis' 41 points against Metro State reflects their game against Loyola in 2004, Salina Kuiper had a night which takes us back to 1981-82. During this season, Kerri Connelly grabbed the Regis women's basketball record with 40 blocked shots in one season. Kuiper blocked four Roadrunner shots Tuesday which puts her at 42 blocked shots this season breaking the previous record held by Connelly.

Up next, Regis will play their last game of the season Thursday, Feb. 25th against UCCS. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.
